INTERSHIP REPORT
I. PREFACE
The purpose of this report is to explain what I did and learned during my internship period at
the Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry (HUI). The report focuses primarily on process the
English teaching practice at HUI and I realized that English language is very important for the
students non - major in English language who are learning English language and that the role of
English in Vietnam for natives. In addition, English has helped enhance exchange and growth,
especially in higher education.
Nowadays English in Vietnam becomes more important and necessary in work, English
certificate is now seen as a vital requirement for employment, and each student after graduate their
course, has to get English B or C degree if he or she wants to be given certificate, and English is the
mainly concerned of the companies and factors during time to recruit the staff for own. It is possible
to say that English is the most standard and important to the staff whose want to apply for job at a
big company or at a foreign company. Furthermore, English has facilitated economic cooperation
and development with an ever greater, influx of foreign investment, mostly from capitalist countries,
which require English ability.
The Importance of Learning the English Language nowadays: it is a key to success in our life
in order to we can communicate with the people who speak it and understand more about people
culture, and customs. People study English for job seeking, job promotion and study abroad and
also help them to have high position and high salaries in their jobs. English is an important tool for
operating on the world stage. The ability to speak and understand English is mandatory in certain
fields, professions, and occupations. In fact, English is so widely spoken and it is considered in very

I began my internship report from January 21st, 2010 0n the teaching English in HUI, the
internship report was to last for three months and as a result my internship report came to an end
on 5th may, 2010. During my internship period, I paid attention some classes such as: ĐHAV4,
ĐHAV5, CĐAV11, AVA1, AVA2and so on.
On the first two weeks, I came and visited to CĐAV11, ĐHAV4, ĐHĐI5, ĐHAV5 classes
taught by MS. PHẠM THị HIỀN, MR.NGUYỄN TRƯỜNG SA, MS.NGUYỄN THÚY TRÚC LINH

learned many important things to myself. When I come to these classes, I often paid attention and
took note the teachers lesson and I have also learned that more experience over the part of lesson:
how to teach reading, listening and grammar better or how to controlled class, balanced time and
also communicated with students, not only through the part of lesson but also helped me open my
knowledge, more confident ,changed my think and then I took my comments.
In the beginning on April and the last on March I began to practice teaching English. I taught
three periods on March, 30, 31st and April, 8th ,2010 at AVA1.2 class in B2.7 classroom, AVA1.2
class in B2.8 classroom and AVA1.2 class in B2.6 classroom and I observed and attended in my
group members’ lesson on 12 periods and the head master at these classes. In my opinion, during the
three moths I finished my internship report and I realized that it takes many time and steps to
achieve a vision and I also have received feedback and the remark forms form my supervisor and
my friends, I have drawn experience to myself .

VIII.DIFFICULTIES ENCOUNTERED
My difficulties encountered during the internship period are as follow:
First of all, it was not easy for me as for my group members to find a class in order to teach
practice at these classes, but some teachers did not support to us almost they thought that we did
not have enough ability and confident to teach their students, they worried we would made lower
the process of their teaching.
Secondly, time was limited so I had to face to some difficulties when I divided time to teach: each
period is only 45 minutes but the lessons were quite long it was not enough time to teach within
45 minutes. Then nearly half students in class, they felt tired and uncomfortable because before
the English class began these students might finish their main class from 4 to 6 periods, that’s
reason reduced attentive ability of students. Besides that, the major of these students was not
English; English was a compulsory subject to them so they felt bored or not interested in
studying English.
Thirdly, Limitations of the school : classroom too small, number of students too important : 50
students in class cannot paid attention to my lesson and it was difficult for me to divide the class into
groups so that my lessons could be effective, it was not easy to manage students like as. In addition
some classrooms lacked of equipment or their equipment was not good such as plugs-in which could
not be used and lacked of fan, air condition, projectors and so on.
Finally, the difficulties were not based on the way I was performed here; it was that I needed
some time to feel comfortable with my new environment and on my work that I never did it
before. I really felt worry and nervous when I taught at the first time, my friends always support
and willing to me when I taught them in my class but when I taught students in the classes such
as ava1, ava2 …, students did not cooperate with me as my friends did, they made me more
anxious and loose confidence when I stood in front of class. Furthermore I also lacked of
experiences and communicate both of skill with students was still weak, It was not easy for an
intern to completely convince students pay attention to my lesson the way lively and interesting, I
also could not find the best teaching method in order to prepare and help them understand my
lesson in the first time.

Although, the interns were also faced with some difficulties during the internship period but my
supervisors helped me so much, they spent a lot of time in order to prepare lesson plan to me and
borrowed reference book to help me to teach better, besides that they have also encouraged me
spiritually to help me become more confident.

IX.NEW SKILLS AND INFORMATION ACHIEVED
During my internship period, I have learned that a lot of useful things to myself through my
senior supervisors and the members in my group helped me. At the same time, it was the first
experience I had that taught me to listen to people with ideas and opinions that I had never before
considered and help me to develop new ways of thinking about the same problems.
Firstly, I have some teaching experiences, in process of teaching I realized that prepare lesson
is very important because if I have good preparation to lesson plan I will make a good
performance in front of class, and I also have known how to make students more lively and
enjoyable instead of students feeling bored or not paying attention to the lesson
Secondly, I know how to balance time, the ways to arrange time were right in process of lesson
plan and focus on the main parts in lesson plan, the ways to choose the best teaching methods
help students understand easier and focus on the main parts of the lesson.
I have learnt how to contact with students and understand them, so we should talk to them before
starting the lesson and if we want all students in class cooperate with us we also should give some
small games in class help students to feel more interesting and enjoyable when the lesson starts such
as guessing words, matching games, arranging games and so on. Besides that, I also helped me more
confident and dynamic when I talk to them or the ways to handle with my students so I can control
the class more easily and convenient, and I believe I have enough confidence to manage when the
class becomes noisy. In process of teaching practice I have a lot of chances to communicate with
students more than so I could know a few students’ psychology
Furthermore, when I paid attention at some period of member’s in-group I realized once
thing that I did not, I should say some funny things from the lesson to break the boring
atmosphere.
Over the internship, I have chanced to improve and practice my weak skills as well as my strong
points help me more perfectly about myself both the knowledge and the experiences.
